Garmin Geko secret startup commands

The Garmin Geko is a popular GPS receiver among Geocacher - it's small and lightweight and easy to use.
A few people have asked me for the secret startup commands for the Geko for putting it into test mode and carrying out a master reset.
- To put the Geko into test mode, press and hold down the OK button while pressing the power on button.
- To carry out a master reset press and hold down all the keys except the down key for 5 seconds.
After carrying out a full reset you will need to allow the GPS receiver to obtain a full almanac so take it outdoors and leave it in a location that has a good view of the sky for 5 - 25 minutes. After that you will need to go through the menus and set your preferences.
